Let’s face it. Summer is messy! Awesome….but MESSY!
I often cringe when it is time to pick up my kiddos from summer activities.
No, it’s not because I’m worried about the dirt and grass stains all over The Professor’s clothes.
No, I’m not worried that Mini-Me’s carefully-brushed hair is now a rat’s nest.
No, it’s none of that.
What makes me cringe is that popsicles are the go-to refreshment at summer activities. Where there are popsicles, there are stubborn SKIN STAINS! The popsicle mustache (or goatee, in the case of my dear children) is my downfall…I can’t stand it! I don’t know about your kids, but mine (without fail) return to me looking more like The Joker than the clean-faced children that I dropped off.
(The Professor ate this popsicle with specific instructions to make a mess on his face. He had a blast!)
Luckily, I have a quick and easy way to deal with skin stains (that doesn’t require scrubbing off layers and layers of skin). Note: As with anything that you put on your kids’ skin, be cautious the first time you try this. My kids’ faces are not irritated by this at all, but that might not be the case for everyone.
All you need is a washcloth and toothpaste. (I use whitening toothpaste.)
Plop some toothpaste on the washcloth and add a little water.
Work up a lather and give the stains a gentle scrub. (You might have to repeat for the more stubborn stains, but I rarely need to).
And voila! The stains are gone and you can move on to your next round of summer fun.
