summer bucket list 2017

This summer I have decided to share our family’s bucket list (and progress) with you.  We might get around to everything on this list.  We might not.  All I know is that with each thing that our family is able to check off this list, we are showing cancer who’s boss (hence my unofficial title for our summer bucket list – – the “Cancer Can Suck It” list).  Click here to check out our other Summer Bucket List 2017 posts!

We have packed a LOT of activity in the weeks since my last update, but not many of our activities were on our bucket list.  However, we were able to check off two more items from our list:

Our family spent four days in Central Oregon with my parents and siblings.  On one of the days that we were there, we drove to Crater Lake (neither me or Mr. Blue Eyes had been there before).  What a BEAUTIFUL place!

(I wasn’t able to get the typical pictures of the bright blue lake, because the sky was covered in haze from a forest fire.  I got a few little peeks of bright blue and snapped pictures).

After checking out a few sights and having lunch, we decided to take a hike to Plaikni Falls.

I didn’t snap any good pictures when we made it to the waterfall because I was too busy catching my breath from the final ascent.  I will be back to my old self someday…but for now, I suck wind.

So I am going to call this bucket list item “done, done, and done.” We had a LOT of water play while we were in Central Oregon.

kids on party barge We spent one day at Lake Billy Chinook.  Since there were so many people in our party, it only made sense to go the party barge route.  This thing was pretty awesome…complete with barbecue and water slide.  The kids had an absolute blast!

We spent ALL DAY on the lake – eating, swimming, and lounging.

But it didn’t stop there…my brother also rented a speed boat, tube, and wake board so we could take turns going a little faster on the water.  This was the kiddos’ first time tubing – The Professor absolutely loved it, but Mini-Me wasn’t so sure.  I took two turns myself…the first was awesome but the second was MUCH choppier and left my tissue expanders VERY sore.  I was a little nervous about them for the rest of the day.

white water rafting trip

On our last morning in Central Oregon, we decided to join my brother and his family for a white water rafting trip in Bend.  This was another first for everyone in our little family (Ladybug stayed with my parents).  We had so much fun!  It wasn’t a super-long trip but it was just enough to give us a taste of white water rafting and get us good and wet.

So we have officially made it halfway through our summer bucket list, with one month left in summer vacation:
