My Big Plan

Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend. Theophrastus quote

I have been thinking about my life a lot lately.  A lot.  Battling a life-threatening illness is, obviously, at the root of my pondering.  I have been working so hard to lengthen my life, that now I feel this drive to purge what truly doesn’t matter to me and devote more time to my family, my faith, and other things I enjoy.

So where does blogging fit?

As it turns out, blogging has been an incredible outlet for me during my illness but it has also turned into a fun hobby.  I enjoy taking pictures and creating graphics.  I like writing posts and sharing what I have learned.  It is something that I would like to continue and expand upon, which is the reason for this post.

I have actually been putting off this post for a while now.  It stems from the fact that I have perfectionist tendencies.  I didn’t want to tell you my first big goal for this blog before everything was PERFECTLY and COMPLETELY ready.  Then cancer happened and things slowed to a crawl around here.  Now that I’m feeling better and getting back to a more regular routine, I have been scared to announce my goal because I might hit a hiccup in treatment and fall back out of my blogging routine.

But life is too short to wait on perfection and worry about “what-ifs”.  So, without further ado, here is my goal:

a grand goal

I have a vision that this page will become a community of diverse individuals who are united in their desire to save time on the routine (and mundane) tasks of life so that they have more time to savor. You, my friends, are here already (and most of you have been with me since the beginning!) so I am asking for your help with my goal –  I want to build this little online community (as measured by Facebook followers) to 1,000 readers.  A “grand” goal, so to speak.  (See what I did there??)

This is definitely a long term goal, but there will be a BIG CELEBRATION when we make it to this milestone!  In fact, the celebration will include an awesome giveaway………..

Since I love Amazon Prime so much, I have decided to put my money where my mouth is!

I will be giving away a one-year Amazon Prime subscription to one lucky winner once the Mommy Standard Time page on Facebook reaches 1,000 followers.

If you’re anything like me, your mind is already swimming with questions, so I’m going to pause here and answer a few that you might have:

What is Amazon Prime?  Amazon Prime is basically the bomb dot com.  Click here to read my post about all of the perks that come with an Amazon Prime subscription.

How can I make sure that I’m entered to win?  The giveaway period will not be open until the Mommy Standard Time page on Facebook reaches 1,000 followers.  I will make a special announcement on the blog and Facebook with the official entry rules.

I love Amazon Prime, too!  What happens if I already have a subscription?  If you are the giveaway winner and you already have an Amazon Prime membership, you will have the option of redeeming the gift subscription as an Amazon gift card of equal value.

Are you trying to “buy” followers and blog readers with this giveaway? No, I don’t think so.  Everyone has an opinion, but I am looking at this as a celebration giveaway.  This is a BIG goal for me, and I want to say thank you to those who help me get there.  I’m all about authenticity…I would rather that this goal be met by slowly gaining followers who find this blog useful than by quickly gaining followers who are only interested in a chance at a free Amazon Prime subscription.

So, what can we do to help you reach your goal?  Many of you are helping already!  Every time you “like” or comment on one of my Facebook posts, my content is reaching more people.  Some of those people then choose to follow me on Facebook as well.  (A recent Facebook post of mine, that many of you “liked”, resulted in four new followers that day.)  The best way that you can help is to share my blog with your friends and family, if you think they might be interested in what’s going on over here in my little corner of the web.  And last but not least, if you are a regular reader of my blog, double-check that you are actually following my Facebook page. 🙂

Whew!  So there it is…my first big goal for this blog.  Now I can breathe a sigh of relief to have it out in the open!  By sharing it with all of you, I am able to hold myself more accountable to keep the content coming.  This is going to be fun!
